Bilateral shoulder fractures secondary to accidental electrical injury.
Electrical injuries sometimes cause grave internal lesions that go unnoticed in an initial exploration. Low-tension electrical energy can produce burns of variable depth by flash or conduction, but we rarely find fractures. This case reports a case of bilateral shoulder fractures secondary to low-voltage injury which were undiagnosed in the emergency approach.
متن کاملAn unusual shoulder injury
Traumatic pseudoaneurysm of the axillary artery is a rare sequel of shoulder injury. We report here a unique phenomenon of delayed presentation axillary pseudoaneurysm some time after an initial blunt injury, with no evidence of gross bony injury. The gentleman presented again some weeks later after a failure of rehabilitation and progressive neurological deficit in the affected arm. Ultimate m...
متن کاملAn uncommon shoulder injury.
A 21 year old male fell while water skiing one year before presentation. The impact with the water caused the right l arm to be forcefully hyperextended while fully elevated. Symptoms persisted for nearly a year despite a course of anti-inflammatory medication, and induded twinges of pain on reaching or elevating the arm. Early in the summer of the following year he tried to play softball, but ...
متن کاملNeuromuscular electrical stimulation of the muscles surrounding the shoulder.
Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) can be used to augment range-of-motion, strengthening, and facilitation treatment programs of the muscles surrounding the shoulder. The purposes of this article are 1) to describe the uses of NMES around the shoulder joint as developed through our clinical use and 2) to detail the effects of an NMES program on chronic shoulder subluxation as determine...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Shoulder Lateral Impacts for Shoulder Injury Prediction
IN CAR LATERAL impacts, the shoulder is directly exposed to injuries. These lesions are rarely fatal but produce long term impairments (Frampton, 1997). To develop protection devices, numerical tools such as finite element (FE) body models are used. If the first FE body models represented average males, geometrical personalization methods are now available (Besnault, 1998; Buhmann 2003) and all...
